Segment Decision Guide · Airport & Mall Food-Court

Airport and Shopping Mall Food-Court Restaurant Automation

In high-traffic food-court and airport operations, a POS is chosen on speed and on reporting to property management.

Quick Answer

The deciding criterion

Peak-hour speed (kiosk + KDS) and verifiable revenue reporting to property management.

Contract risk

Mall and airport rents are commission-based on revenue; a system that cannot report in the required format creates a compliance problem.

If you're an operator

Being able to run several brands from one panel reduces both cost and complexity.

What changes in this segment?

Airport and mall food courts differ from a classic restaurant in two ways: demand comes in short, sharp peaks (flights, screenings, lunchtime) and revenue carries an obligation of revenue reporting to property management. That is why the choice is made along two axes: throughput speed and reporting compliance.

Bu segmentte belirleyici 6 kriter

Peak-hour speed (order + payment)

Demand explodes in narrow time windows; seconds determine the queue, lost customers and revenue per square metre.

Self-service kiosk & KDS

A kiosk clears the cashier bottleneck and a KDS cuts kitchen preparation time — the core of efficiency in a food court.

Revenue reporting to property management

Rent is usually a commission on revenue; producing a verifiable revenue report in the format the mall or airport management requires is a matter of contract compliance.

Multiple brands / outlets on one panel

An operator runs several brands in the same space; per-brand menus, prices, reporting and consolidation are required.

Uninterrupted operation

In high traffic, a few minutes of downtime is a large revenue loss; offline continuity is essential.

Fast standard setup

A new outlet should open quickly from a standard template; location changes are frequent.

Architecture comes before price

Before you're swayed by a cheap monthly cloud price: the most critical decision is the architecture. On a fully cloud-dependent POS, the central outages that can occur once or a few times a year (a global service outage, a cyber attack, bandwidth throttling, a central software fault) can halt sales at every branch simultaneously for hours. At robotPOS all management products are cloud-based, while the point of sale (POS) is hybrid — sales continue locally without interruption. Deployment model guide · 32-criterion comparison

"The story of the Köfteci Ramiz brand is the story of two orphaned brothers who migrated from Macedonia to Türkiye at the start of the 19th century. Having lost their mother in infancy and with their father taken prisoner in the Battle of Çanakkale, the brothers settled in Akhisar, a district of the Aegean. There they served grilled meatballs in the style they had learned in Macedonia, alongside a special flatbread made from fresh-yeast dough. They opened their first shop in 1928 in Akhisar — a tiny place with four tables. After Ramiz Usta passed away in 1970, his four sons continued to keep their father's name alive. In 2000 they opened their second branch, again in Akhisar, on the İzmir–İstanbul highway. That second branch became a springboard, and in 2006 the first İstanbul branch opened in Levent Çarşı. The Köfteci Ramiz brand continues to grow, today with 150 branches in 31 provinces."
